30 Verses for the Man in the Grind

One passage. Ten minutes. Before the week gets a vote.

Thirty days in the Word for the man who keeps getting buried by the week.

One passage, a plain breakdown, one question, and one thing to do. Five to ten minutes a morning, with your own Bible open.

Instant download. The book is $9.99.

You want to be in the Word. You just keep getting buried by the week.

You clock in, you handle what's in front of you, and by the time the day's done, the Bible's still sitting there. Every plan you've tried felt like homework, so you fell off, and then you felt worse about falling off.

I get it. I clock in at a full-time job too. I'm not a pastor, and I'm not writing from some finish line. I read a verse every morning and break it down on Faith and Grind, and this book is the first thirty of those days, cleaned up and laid out so you can walk them yourself.

Every day is one spread

Five to ten minutes. The same six steps, every morning.

  1. 01

    Read

One passage to read in your own Bible. The focus verse is printed, but the point is to open the Book yourself.

  2. 02

    The breakdown

What the passage actually says, the Hebrew or Greek word behind it when it matters, and where it stops. No stretching it to say something it doesn't.

  3. 03

    The callback

Scripture talks to itself. When a passage ties back to one you read earlier, the book shows you the connection. Day 4 answers Day 3.

  4. 04

    Reflect

One question to sit with before you move on.

  5. 05

    Do this today

One thing to do. Small on purpose. Something you can actually do between shifts.

  6. 06

    Pray

A short prayer line, and room for notes.

A full day from the book

Day 4, start to finish

Day 04

Get in the Yoke

Read

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)

Jesus doesn't say drop the work. He says get in the yoke with Me. A yoke is the wooden beam across two animals so they pull together. Jesus was a builder in wood (Mark 6:3), the trade that made yokes. When He says His yoke is “easy,” the word means kind, well-fitting, shaped so it doesn't rub you raw. You still pull. You just don't pull alone.

Back on Day 3

Psalm 127 warned against anxious toil. This is the answer to it.

Reflect

What load are you carrying that you were never meant to carry alone?

Do this today

Name the heaviest thing on your plate in one sentence, out loud, to God. Then take one next step on it, knowing you're not pulling it alone.

Pray

Jesus, I'm tired, and I'm coming to You. Put me in Your yoke and teach me Your pace.

The lock screen cards

Read it in the morning. Carry it all day.

You check your phone more than you check anything else. So give the lock screen something worth thinking about.

Thirty cards, one for each day of the book. Each card has that day's Bible reference and one short question from me to carry with you. There's no verse printed on them, and that's on purpose. The card points you to the passage. You go read it in your own Bible.

You read Day 7 before work. Then every time you pick up your phone, Hebrews 12:1-2 is sitting there behind the clock with the question you sat with that morning. One passage, carried all day instead of forgotten by lunch.

Honest about what this is

It's a starting point, not a seminary course. It won't do the reading for you, and it can't promise you a breakthrough by Day 30. What it can do is get you into the Book every day for a month with a plan that fits a working man's morning.

Who it's for

The working man (or woman) who wants a daily habit in the Word and needs a plan that's short, plain, and honest. If you're brand new to the Bible, it's a good front door. If you've been reading for years and fell off, it's a good way back.

Who it's not for

Anyone looking for a deep academic study, or a promise that thirty days will fix everything.

Questions

Is this the same as the free 30-day plan?

No. The free 30-day plan is a light daily reading list: one passage and one question a day. This book is a different set of thirty passages, the first thirty days of the Daily Word, each with the focus verse printed, a full breakdown, one thing to do, and a prayer. Do both if you want.

Do I need an ESV?

No. Any Bible works. The focus verse in the book is printed from the ESV. The lock screen cards print no scripture text, only the reference and a question, so they work with any Bible too.

How long does each day take?

Five to ten minutes. Read the passage, read the breakdown, sit with the question, then go do the one thing.

Miss a day?

There are no dates in this book. Pick up at the next Day and keep going.

How do I get it?

Checkout runs through Gumroad, and the files are an instant download. The book comes as a PDF laid out for your phone and a print-friendly PDF you can print at home. The cards are images: download, save to your photos, set as your lock screen. Sized for iPhone. Most other phones crop to fit. No app. No login.

Who wrote it?

I did. I'm Dustin. I clock in at a full-time job, I'm not a pastor, and I'm not writing from some finish line. These thirty days came out of the Daily Word, a passage I read every morning and post on Faith and Grind. More about me.
